If your boss is anything like my boss, they probably ask a lot of questions. You may find yourself, as I often find myself, repeating the answers over and over and over again. This isn’t because your boss has a bad memory. For that matter, it’s quite the opposite, and it is through repetition that they are learning the answers that will expand their own knowledge base.
Undoubtedly when the topic of Event Medical Services comes up, your boss is going to have a bunch of questions. Here are The Top 6 Things About Event Medical Services Your Boss Wants To Know:
Why Do We Want Event Medical Services?
Hosting/promoting and event is just like hosting a party at your house. Those who come are your guests, and every host wants their guests to have a good time. For that matter, as a Event Planner or Promoter, you want the guests to have a GREAT time. Positive experiences translate into positive reviews. A negative experience, even the exacerbation of a personal medical condition, can result in a negative experience. Negative experiences are often retold far more times than positive ones, and in today’s day and age of Social Media the reach is even further.
Another aspect could be that, depending on the size of your event, you may be legally required to provide it.
What Will Event Medical Services Do?
Event Medical Services will provide medical care from the minor (cuts, headaches, nausea) to the serious (broken bones, dizziness, shortness of breath) and for the critical (fainting, chest pain, respiratory/cardiac sudden arrest). Instead of calling 9-1-1 for a medical condition, your on-site Event Medical Services will handle it the same clinically and with a superior focus on service to the guest.
Where Will Event Medical Services Be During The Event?
Event Medical Services can be stationed inside your event either operating a Medical Station in full view so your guests are reassured that if something happens someone will be there, or tucked away in the back of house area only to be seen when needed. Event Medical Services can also be stationed outside the venue if space is a concern, but keep in mind that does limit their ability to render care to the minor cases as quickly as they would be able to if stationed inside.
How Much Does Event Medical Services Cost?
Cost for Event Medical Services will vary depending on your event. The length of time medical coverage is to be provided and the resources assigned to the event are the two main factors that will drive cost.
Another variable is the service provider you choose. Unlike other service providers who tend to keep their rates a close guarded secret, we list our services and rates right here.
Does It Matter If Event Medical Services Are There?
If you’re event is not required to have Event Medical Services on site, many Event Planners and Promoters are more likely to depend on the local 9-1-1 service to respond to the critical and serious medical conditions. Unfortunately, that leaves the minor issues, the ones most likely to actually occur, unattended.
While calling 9-1-1 may seem like a viable option, there are a few things to remember about what that option actually entails. The average response time for an ambulance to an address in New York City is 12 minutes and 23 seconds. Does your boss not think that’s too long of a wait? Set a timer for those 12 minutes and 23 seconds, start it, and see how long that actually feels while waiting for help. If you want to simulate it more realistically, have someone ask them every 30 seconds where the ambulance is as the timer runs. That sense of helplessness that they feel, amplified when there’s a real emergency, can be prevented by having Event Medical Services on-site that average a less than two minute response time.
When Do We Need To Confirm Event Medical Services?
As with all the other services for your event, the earlier is usually the better. Still, it may not be too late even if there’s less than 24-hours before your event. The best thing to do is contact a provider as soon as possible so that you can get the appropriate level of service in time for your event.
